We build ours around the slowest pace that still keeps everyone interested: fewer destinations, more time in each, and activities that work whether you're travelling with a toddler, a teenager, or a grandparent. Long driving days are the biggest complaint we hear about other Kerala itineraries, so we cap most transfers at three to four hours and build in a rest day wherever the trip runs past a week.
A houseboat night is usually the highlight for kids, and the boats we charter have railed decks and shallow, calm backwater routes rather than open water. Periyar's wildlife safari and Munnar's tea gardens are both easy walking, and we can arrange interconnecting or adjoining rooms at every stop so the whole family stays together without asking.

Yes, the boats we charter have railed upper decks and cruise calm, shallow backwater routes rather than open water, and a steward is on board throughout. We'd still recommend keeping a close eye on toddlers near the deck edge, as with any boat.
How many days is ideal for a Kerala family trip?
7 days covers Kochi, Munnar, and the backwaters at a comfortable pace with only two or three hotel changes. Families with more time often add Periyar for a wildlife safari or extend the backwater stay.
Can you arrange connecting or adjoining rooms?
