Munnar sits where three mountain streams meet, at just over 1,600 metres in Kerala's Western Ghats. What draws most travellers here is the tea: over 30,000 hectares of manicured estates, planted from the 1870s onward, rolling across every visible hillside in shades of green that shift with the light. It's cool enough for a jacket in the evenings, a genuine change of pace after Kerala's coast.

How many days should I spend in Munnar?
Two nights is enough to cover the tea estates, a viewpoint, and one activity like a trek or a boat ride at Mattupetty Dam without feeling rushed. If wildlife or a deeper trek into the Ghats interests you, three nights gives more room.
What is the best time to visit Munnar?
September through May is comfortable, with December to February giving the clearest views and coolest evenings. The monsoon (June to August) turns the hills a deeper green and thins out the crowds, but expect regular rain and some road closures.
Can Munnar be combined with Alleppey and Kochi in one trip?
Yes, this is our most-booked route: Kochi for a day, Munnar for two nights, then down to Alleppey or Kumarakom for a houseboat night before flying out of Kochi. It's a comfortable 6 to 7 day loop.
